Simon Cowell votes Rikki Loney off X Factor
Sunday, 18th October 2009.
Scottish crooner Rikki Loney has been voted off week two of the X Factor after Simon Cowell chose to save Rachel Adedeji.
The two pop star wannabes received the fewest public votes after disappointing in last night's Diva Week show.
So they had to sing-off against each other for survival.
Adedeji performed an emotional version of U2's With Or Without You and Loney sang Flying Without Wings by Westlife.
But as Louis walsh was absent from the show attending Stephen Gately's funeral, the final decision as to who should go was made by Simon Cowell.
With Cheryl voting for Rikki and Dannii for Rachel, Cowell's decision was the one that counted.
He said: "I'm not surprised you two were in the bottom two. I'm voting to save the act that I thought performed the best tonight, and that act was Rachel, so I'm sending Rikki home.
A clearly upset Cheryl Cole instantly exclaimed that she couldn't believe her act had been voted off ahead of Irish twins John and Edward.
But defending his decision on the X-tra Factor, Cowell added that he'd sooner see John and Edward perform again than Rikki.
So would we Simon - check out John and Edward's performance from last night's show >
