Anthony Cotton has Dannii Minogue's back
Tuesday, 13th October 2009.
Gay Corrie actor Anthony Cotton has sprung to the defence of Dannii Minogue after her highly criticised remark about bisexuality on live TV.
X Factor judge Minogue made a comment about contestant Danyl Johnson on Saturday night's live prime rime show.
After Danyl changed the gender reference in Whitney Houston Song And I Am Telling You to "Woman" from "Man", Danni told him: "if we are to believe everything we read in the paper maybe you didn’t need to change the gender reference in it."
But Weatherfield favourite Cotton reckons the comment was anything but homophobic.
The actor - who plays the Street's Sean Tully - wrote on his Twitter blog page: "Dannii Minogue is the least homophobic woman in the world. And personally, I think she made a very pro-gay comment.
"Just watched again. Cheryl began the slot by saying, 'He's singing a woman's song – it's ridiculous'.
"So the lyrics must have been changed because it must be a problem for a man to sing a song about another man.
"That is not Danyl's fault and it certainly isn't Dannii's fault for flagging it up."
Dannii, however, apologised for her comment during Sunday night's live X Factor results show which saw Kandy Rain leave the competition.
