John and Edward get false backing
Tuesday, 13th October 2009.
Bumbling Irish twins John and Edward Grimes have been backed by practically everyone on The X Factor, but not all of it may be genuine, it has emerged.
Bosses of the hit reality show reportedly issued a memo to Dermot O’Leary and Holly Willoughby urging them to speak positively about the 17 year-olds.
Producers feared an impending backlash as the live shows were about to begin so told the show's key on-stage staff that 'it would be great to defend John and Edward'.
A source even told The Sun: “Bosses didn’t expect the twins to get such a bad reaction from the public. They want people on their side".
Judges' criticism
There has been huge negative press about the Grimes twins getting through to the live finals, and the x Factor judges still seem happy to publicly slate them.
Simon Cowell claims Louis Walsh put them through because they were Irish and even Cheryl Cole told them on Saturday's show: "You can't sing but it's not your fault you're in the final twelve."
The twins look to be taking all of the negativity to heart though - they revealed recently that they were hurt by Simon Cowell's remark that they were "vile and irritating".
A group on social network website Facebook opposing the wannabe pop stars has more than 100,000
But defending the twins, it appears, is not all the X Factor presenters have allegedly been brainwashed to do.
Insiders say Dermot and Holly have been told to say Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue are friends even though they constantly bicker backstage!
Well they're not exactly bosom buddies are they!
