Dannii Minogue's bisexual comment apology

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has apologised over an off the cuff joke about contestant Danyl Johnson's sexuality.
The Aussie singer made the remark when giving feedback to the Reading 27 year-old after he'd sung a version of Whitney Houston's "And I Am Telling You".
In the song - which is traditionally performed by a woman - Johnson changed the lyrics so they mentioned loving a man, rather than loving a woman.
Minogue said in Saturday night's live show: "If you're to believe everything you read in the papers, then you didn't need to change the gender references in the song."
A shocked Danyl immediately said: "I'm not ashamed", whilst his mentor Simon Cowell sat in stunned silence.
But just hours after the show, a regretful Minogue offered her “sincere apologies” and added that it was meant to be a “humorous moment”.
Her official blog said: "Dannii is mortified if her comments have been misinterpreted as she has always been hugely supportive of the gay and bisexual community for her entire career.
"She spoke to Danyl straight after the show, explained what she was talking about and he wasn't offended in the slightest."
Dannii reiterated her apology in last night's results show and was backed by Simon Cowell who said: "I can say this on behalf of Dannii, she is the last person in the world who would ever do anything offensive like that.
"I've got to say I probably overreacted a little bit. You get very protective about your artists."
