Kandy Rain leave X Factor as expected
Sunday, 11th October 2009.
When a sexy girl band makes it to the final 12 of the X Factor the outlook for them is pretty grim. And Kandy Rain were no different.
The feisty foursome from London became the first act to be voted off the 2009 live finals after the voting public - predominantly young women - failed to show them support.
They had to sing for survival against Rihanna lookalike Rachel Adedeji and although the judges were deadlocked when deciding who should go home, the public vote swung Rachel’s way.
But the girls needn't be too downhearted - last year's all female bands Bad Lashes and Girlband were voted off consecutively in weeks one and two.
Harsh comments
Although we doubt the scantily-clad Kandy Rain girls – Chemmane Applewhite, CoCo Lloyd, Azi Jegbefume and Khatereh Dovani – will still be reeling after receiving some pretty harsh comments from the female judges.
On Saturday Cheryl Cole told the former pole dancers not to dress so provocatively if they wanted viewers to see them as singers rather than strippers.
But Simon Cowell - who voted for Kandy Rain to stay - told the girls: “You’re fun, you’re trying to make it in the music business. Good luck to you."
This before turning to Cole and saying: "You have performed in the past practically half-naked."
Yes the claws were certainly out
Cowell added that he thought Kandy Rain hadn't been given a fair crack in the competition.
And on this, the girls agreed, telling host Dermot O'Leary that they could have done no more to stay in the competition.
That leaves eleven acts left to battle it out in Diva week.
Here's hoping other girl group Miss Frank don't suffer the same fate.
Fingers crossed.
