John and Edward - X Factor 2009
Friday, 9th October 2009.
Irish twins John and Edward have somehow made it to the X Factor final despite annoying almost everyone they’ve encountered along the way.
First it was Simon Cowell, who was more than a bit miffed when the 17 year-old pair bounded onto the stage in their audition and started speaking in an American accent.
Several minutes later, after a distinctly average rendition of a Backstreet Boys track and some quite embarrassing audience interaction, LouisWalsh said that he thought they had a bit of star quality.
So the spiky-haired Dublin students made it through to Bootcamp and struck lucky when Louis continued to sing their praises enough to land them a place in the judges’ houses stage.
Even at Louis’ Italian home, assistant Ronan Keating told the Irish judge he’d be wrong to put them through. But alas they made it.
The twins say they just want to entertain people and have fun. But can they turn their luck into genuine X Factor title contention?
Not if the bookies say so – they’re rank outsiders at 50/1!
