Credit crunch hits Dermot O'Leary
Monday, 16th March 2009.
X Factor host Dermot O'Leary is reportedly having his wages cut by 10% for the new series of the X Factor this summer.
The former Big Brother presenter was allegedly paid £1million for his stint on the 2008 series.
But the News Of The World reports that he has only been offered £900,000 for the 2009 run of the hit reality singing show.
He is expected to sign the contract in the next few weeks, but may hold out for a bit more money.
A source told the paper: "Dermot's very likely to be back but he hasn't signed his contract yet because he's still in negotiations."
Rumours that O'Leary's wages would be slashed emerged last week when ITV revealed it is planning a series of cost-cutting measures.
The presenter has fronted the last two series of the X Factor.
He joined the ITV1 show in 2007 as a replacement for Kate Thornton, who was given the push by show supremo Simon Cowell.
