Daniel Evans - X Factor 2008
Monday, 6th October 2008
Daniel Evans is a 38 year-old dad-of-three from Essex who has the most compelling story of all the X Factor finalists.
Daniel has almost applied to be on The X Factor every year since it’s been on the TV screens but never actually gone through with sending in his application form.
That was until this year, when he decided to take the plunge because he believes life is too short following the tragic death of his wife last year just after the birth of their 11 month old baby girl, Ana Maria.
Daniel now lives in Spain with his little girl and works as a pool cleaner to get by but is keen to succeed to provide a better life for them both.
He’s had a love of music from an early age and in his early teens experimented with a variety of different musical instruments - even playing the organ in his dad’s 70s band.
But Daniel didn’t realise he could sing until after his dad’s death.
When he sang on karaoke, people commented that he had inherited his dad’s voice and should try singing for a living.
One of his biggest fans was Daniel's wife who had always wanted him to audition for the show so this year he decided to go for it and his story touched all four judge’s hearts.
Did he touch your heart? His story certainly touched ours.
