Howard Ebison misses out on Apprentice semis
Thursday, 28th May 2009.
Apprentice hopeful Howard Ebison was fired one week before the show's semi finals after Sir Alan accused him of not being able to take risks.
The 24-year-old was told he was "risk averse" despite impressing whilst being on the losing side in a shopping channel task.
Sir Alan Sugar said: "I haven't got time for just ordinary people."
Derby lad Howard was one of the genuinely nice candidates in the 2009 series, but it didn't take him long to slate his opponents.
The retail manager said some of his rivals had behaved "appallingly" and added that Sir Alan has taken a "big risk" by putting Lorraine Tighe through to the intense interview stage of the show.
He had kinder words to say about fiery Debra Barr though, even though she would not allow him to project manage earlier in the series.
He said: "I don't think she makes the best first impression but she really wins you over very quickly and effortlessly."
Bolder
Howard revealed that his experience on the show had encouraged him to be bolder in his business decisions.
"If I only take one thing from The Apprentice, it's that I need to think twice," he said. "Am I being too cautious when making decisions?"
He added: "I've returned to my original employer - not that maverick!"
Facing a gruelling series of interviews with Sir Alan's closes business buddies next week are Debra Barr, Kate Walsh, James McQuillan, Lorraine Tighe and Yasmina Siadatan.
At least two of them will make the final the following week.
Howard tipped team-mate Kate Walsh to win the series, claiming that she had been his biggest competition on the show.
