Hey Mona, Ooh Mona
Thursday, 14th May 2009.
Apprentice candidate Mona Lewis said she was "ready to go" after being fired by Sir Alan Sugar on the BBC One reality show last night.
She was given the boot after her team lost a task to re-brand the town of Margate.
But the 28-year-old former beauty queen said she was missing her six-year-old son: "I'd got to a point where I really could not go any more, it was really, really tough," she said.
In the task, Lewis' team targeted the gay market in re-branding Margate, despite her objections.
She said she thought targeting families would draw a broader audience.
Asked if Sir Alan made the right decision, Lewis said: "If I were to answer that question based on the task, then Sir Alan made the wrong decision, because I feel that Debra should have gone.
"But if it's on an individual basis, I think it was the right decision because I was ready to go."
In the boardroom, Sir Alan Sugar said: "I don't see any creativity here and I have to start thinking about where you would slot into my organisation."
But Mona took it on the chin: "It's hard enough being in a country not knowing many people - once you've built a network of people, and then go to London and start again, it's not easy," she said.
Lewis said she wanted Yasmina Siadatan to win, saying: "We're very similar but she's just got that extra oomph that I didn't have."
