Paula Jones will not be The Apprentice
Thursday, 16th April 2009.
Human resources consultant Paula Jones is the latest Apprentice to be fired by Sir Alan Sugar on the new series of The Apprentice.
The 29 year-old from the West Midlands led a team who had to manufacture, market and sell some cosmetic products.
But a dreadful miscalculation by Jones and her team-mate Yasmina Siadatan led to them spending £700 on an essential oil after initially calculating just £5 costs for the 450g of Sandalwood for their soap.
Total production costs reached £1,141.24 - which was more than they reaped back the following day despite selling all of their stock.
Jones blamed Siadatan and Irishman Ben Clarke - even branding Clarke a "thug" after he denied being at fault and repeatedly shouted over her in the boardroom.
But Sir Alan held Jones ultimately responsible, as he remarked: "Never mind making soap, this sounds like a... soap opera."
He told Paula: "You made quite a good product and people think you're a good team leader."
But he said she had to take responsibility for the dreadful calculation error that cost them the task.
