Strictly goodbye for Lynda Bellingham
Saturday, 10th October 2009.
Bisto mum Lynda Bellingham is the fourth celebrity dancer to be shown the Strictly Come Dancing door after being voted off the show in a split decision.
The actress lost out to Coronation Street star Craig Kelly in the dance-off, although it wasn't plain sailing.
The 61-year-old and her professional partner Darren Bennett received votes to stay from Craig Revell Horwood and Alisha Dixon.
But Corrie's Craig and his partner Flavia Cacace were given the nod by Bruno Tonioli and head judge Len Goodman - whose casting vote counted double.
Bellingham wasn't too downhearted though: "I’ve had an enjoyable time," she said.
“It has been brilliant and I've learned so much.
"And Darren's been absolutely fantastic, thank you."
The 13 couples that remained in the competition had to dance either a Foxtrot or a Salsa.
But the couple of the moment - Laila Rouass and Anton Du Beke - made headlines of a different kind after walking off with the highest score of the night.
They received 34 points for their Foxtrot just days after Du Beke publicly apologised for jokingly calling Laila ‘a Paki’.
The best scoring Salsa of the night came from ex-Hollyoak Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna.
Next week the twelve remaining couples will dance to either a Vienese Waltz or a Jive.
But Lynda Bellingham will have to watch from her sofa.
