Rav Wilding out after orangutanish quickstep
Monday, 5th October 2009.
Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding became the third celebrity voted off Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday evening.
He and partner Aliona Vilani were given the heave-ho by the unimpressed judges after performing what harsh judge Craig Revel Horwood called an "orangutan-ish" quickstep.
It was the second time that Wilding and Vilani had been in the dance-off and the former soldier did himself no favours by forgetting his steps in the dance-off with Bisto mum Lynda Bellingham.
Bellingham's paso doble was far superior when it mattered so it left the judges with little option but to say goodbye to hunky Rav.
Acid-tongued judge Craig said: “Oh dear! Disjointed I think is one word that might describe it all – very laboured.”
But head judge Len Goodman wasn't as critical, adding: “Unlucky Rav, I thought you did a good job in the dance off.”
Rav wasn't the only one to make a boo-boo of his routine, with ex-EastEnder Natalie Cassidy, Cricket funnyman Phil Tufnell and Corrie actor Craig Kelly all suffering clumsy slips.
And Len Goodman was taking note: “A lot of the routines tonight I’ve found a little bit too flashy," he said. "Like cheap jewellery, sparkly but not top-quality.”
You'd better get some training in for week four you sloppy celebs!
