Competition hots up as Heather Small is axed

Singer Heather Small was the eighth celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing last night.
After performing the tango, the combination of the viewer votes and judges' scores left Heather and her partner Brian Fortuna in the bottom two with Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone.
Both couples had to perform a second time for the judges' deciding vote.
Of Heather and Brian's dance the judges said:
Arlene Phillips: "Heather, you have got stronger and stronger week by week and, yes, you were better. Although you still do not have that sharp staccato passion, drama and drive that the tango needs." Score: 7.
Len Goodman: "Tango is an actor's dance, and I saw drama and passion. But I would like you to tuck your hips under. You need to keep body contact a little bit more, but I thought it was a very good job, well done." Score: 7.
Bruno Tonioli: "Great improvement. You have to be careful though because when you're trying so hard sometimes your shoulders raise up and you stop performing. Combine everything and then you'll get higher scores." Score: 7.
Craig Revel Horwood: "It was a marked improvement, certainly on last week. The dance suits you. Heads could have been sharper. I thought there could have been a little more attack. When you pushed you did it well but your release went limp. You have to maintain that essence of the dance. You're just a little bit ahead on the step that gets you into promenade." Score: 6.
The judges gave them a total of 27 out of 40 for their performance.
After the dance-off, Rachel and Vincent were saved by Craig, Arlene and Bruno who all voted for them to stay in the competition, leaving head judge Len to comment on the couples rather than vote.
Len said: "I did agree with the other judges, but that last tango was the best I've seen Heather dance. Well done."
After Heather and Brian's elimination, Heather said: "I enjoyed it, it's been a ball. I feel like a winner because I've enjoyed it so much and I've met such a great young man in Brian."
Brian added: "I've felt very welcome, it's been a pleasure living in England and the best part has been meeting Heather."
