Phil Daniels backs himself to win Strictly
Friday, 5th September 2008
Former EastEnder Phil Daniels has placed a £50 bet on himself to win the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The likeable actor got odds of 20/1 on him winning the reality ballroom dancing show, meaning he'll win £1,000 if he triumphs.
The live shows begin on Saturday, 20th September, and Phil has been training hard to get into shape to perform well with profesisonal partner Flavia Cacace.
Flavia was the dance partner of last year's runner-up Matt Di Angelo, and she'll be hoping to remain in the limelight with dark horse Phil.
We say dark horse, because behind the cheery actor persona and chirpy Cockney "Parklife" voice, Phil is a bit of an athlete.
He's recently run the London Marathon and has trained as a circus knifethrower.
So don't be surprised if his 20/1 odds come down fairly quickly if Phil struts his stuff well on the first night.
