Gino D'Acampo's I'm A Celeb win dampened by rat-gate
Sunday, 13th December 2009
King of the Jungle Gino D'Acampo has spoken about how the rat-gate scandal following his exit from camp soured his I'm A Celebrity triumph.
Australian police arrested the TV chef and Hollyoaks star Stuart Manning for allegedly killing and serving up a rodent on the reality show.
The Sunday Mirror reports Gino saying: "Literally 45 minutes after being crowned King of the Jungle I was in a police station and they wanted me in a cell.
"It's put a real dampener on the whole thing. I had no idea it was going to cause such uproar.
"I'm sorry if I offended anybody but we did what we had to do to eat."
33 year-old Gino and Stuart, 30, have been summoned to appear before New South Wales Court on 3rd February.
ITV last week issued an official apology and pledged to reform the show's guidelines.
