I'm A Celebrity - Esther Rantzen
Saturday, 15th November 2008
Esther Rantzen is something of a British institution, famous for TV presenting and charity work.
The 68 year-old is scared of heights, snakes and spiders, so is the perfect candidate to spend three weeks in the Australian jungle.
Esther is most worried about the dreaded Bushtucker Trials though.
"This is torture television isn’t it?" she says.
"Heights, snakes, spiders, cold water: I loathe them all. I can’t go on roller-coasters, they frighten me witless.
"So if that sort of ordeal faces me, I might have to try a little self-hypnosis."
Esther’s family were astonished and horrified to see her join I'm A Celebrity but Esther herself was spurred on by the prospect of meeting dream campmate George Clooney.
She'll have to make do with Hollywood actor George Takei though.
Esther has some pretty powerful celebrity supporters, counting Simon Cowell and Andrew Lloyd Webber amongst her fans.
We doubt they'll be at home voting though.
