Mouthy Jody Latham sacked from Hell's Kitchen
Monday, 20th April 2009.
Former Shameless actor Jody Latham suffered the wrath of Marco Pierre White last night as he became the first celebrity to be booted off Hell’s Kitchen.
The mouthy Burnley boy melted in the heat of the kitchen after failing to make up with the rest of the celebrity trainees following a blazing row 24 hours earlier.
Although Latham had earlier apologised after swearing, calling his kitchen colleagues names and generally not pulling his weight, it didn’t appear sincere.
And when chef Marco Pierre White asked the other celebs if they had forgiven him, they were non-committal, with Young Ones actor Ade Edmondson labelling him a ‘tosser’.
Latham - who played Lip Gallagher in award-winning Shameless – fell out with Grant Bovey, his wife Anthea Turner, former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar and singer Ms Dynamite.
Marco fuelled the fire in Jody’s belly an hour before he was sacked, saying he could "relate to Jody".
He said of Jody : "I can't help but see part of myself in him. There's one very big difference though - I was highly disciplined by the people I worked for.
“You may not agree with my decision of last night but remember I came into Hell's Kitchen to do a job, not to be liked, not to make friends.
"I don't like people who label people. I was labelled as a young man, as an angry young man.
“There's a big difference between anger and hurt and the man to my right is a man who's been hurt in his early life.
“Even though I've not spoken to him I recognise it within him."
Latham stormed out of the back entrance, scaling a brick wall, but returned 60 minutes later and was given his marching orders.
