Donohoe and Caulfield swap LA for Dales
Tuesday, 23rd September 2008
Two stars of US television are set to exchange the glitz of La-La land for a much more low key lifestyle in Yorkshire.
LA Law star Amanda Donohoe and former Dynasty actor Maxwell Caulfield are joining the cast of Emmerdale in time for Christmas.
They are set to form a "sexy new couple" called Natasha and Mark Wylde, who have retired to the country.
46-year-old Donohoe said of her drastic change of location: "I'm looking forward to galloping across the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and of course a pint of champagne at the Woolie."
"I'm very excited about joining one of Britain's best-loved soaps and I'm hoping the next few months will deliver some intriguing new storylines.
Donohoe won a Golden Globe in America for her part in LA Law, where she became famous for sharing the first lesbian kiss on US television in 1991.
Bad Girls
She has also starred in US sitcom Frasier and ITV1 drama Bad Girls, as well as appearing on the West End stage, replacing Jerry Hall as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate.
Her new on-screen husband Maxwell Caulfield is similarly excited about having a pint in the Woolpack.
He said: "This role was just too tempting to turn down and I can't wait to start filming in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
"Mark's complexities will be an interesting addition to life in Emmerdale."
The glamorous couple is rumoured to be at the very centre of a string of gripping storylines from January 2009.
So keep watching this space!
