John Thomson lands dream Corrie role

Comedy actor John Thomson is delighted after winning a part in his favourite TV show Coronation Street.
The 39 year-old will play an unlucky children's entertainer called Jessie in a trio of episodes to be filmed in late September.
Reformed alcoholic John is understandably excited.
A Corrie spokesperson said: "It's fantastic coup to get John on board. He was dead keen.
"John is a fantastic comedy actor and is perfect for the part of Jessie."
"He's a Manchester lad and knows a few of the cast, so it won't be as though he's a complete stranger to them. "
John is best known for his comedy performances on sketch show the Fast Show, and ITV drama Cold Feet.
And more recently he has landed a role in new series of Stephen Fry's "Kingdom".
But Street bosses hope he will return for some meatier scenes once he's finished filming Kingdom.
The spokesperson added: "We're hoping he'll get the place buzzing and the role he plays will be hilarious, so we are sure the viewers will love him.
"It is already being talked about getting him back for a much longer period next year."
John's Corrie scenes will be screened in December 2008.
